The Harmony, our Journey.

At first there were five homes, Children Homes, from around Ruai, brought together for a harmonious fun filled day that would incorporate Deworming and Vitamin A Supplements for the beautiful souls from these needy backgrounds. That was 4 years ago, December of 2014 to be precise. And that was the birth of The Harmony Deworming and Vitamin A Supplements Program. It's an event hosted annually by Generation Hope Kenya Foundation  non-profit organization which was brought to life by a shared vision by a group of friends. It has been our mission to improve the lives of children in society who are from poor backgrounds or have been orphaned as a result of one cause or another and who are now under the care of the various Children Homes and Orphanages across the country.

Our vision is: “A better life for children”.

Our passion is to ensure that these children are provided with the much needed spiritual, social, educational, health and financial support that they deserve. The primary objectives of the foundation are aligned with the Millennium Development Goals.

Over the years, the Harmony has grown to encompass areas outside Nairobi that we've been able to create partnerships with local health authorities and various parties. Remote rural areas to be precise. Our first being in Solai, Nakuru where we partnered with Patel Flower Farm and Esther Memorial Nursing and Maternity Home. We were able to deworm and provide vitamin A Supplements and offer a free medical camp for both the residents from the surrounding areas and workers in the Patel Flower Farms, hitting numbers of over 500.

August this year saw us in Nkoile in Kajiado county. Here we partnered with Nkoile Health Center, MaaFleva Entertainment group, Mayan FM of MediaMax Network and Vipawa Hub Africa. Partnerships which proved to be crucial  for they allowed a very smooth interaction with the local community. This is in turn translated in a huge turn out for The Harmony Deworming and Vitamin A Supplements events. Coincidentally, this also provided a platform for the health authorities to conduct the ongoing Polio Vaccination Campaign.

All in all, over the years, The Harmony has grown to  truly encapsulate it's title. A harmonious event bringing different entities together for the mutual benefit of the community, and most importantly the children, and the various stake holders.
The Harmony uses volunteers from Generation Hope Kenya Foundation and members from the various partnerships to run and manage the event. We encourage the volunteers to interact with the children on a personal level. To try and be the big sister or brother, be a mentor to them. In effect,  this provides more than just physical health nourishment but mental health nourishment as well.

We, Generation Hope Kenya Foundation, will be going back to the roots this December. Where The Harmony all started. We shall be hosting an event with our original five homes, children's home as we prepare for another event either in Narok or Machakos next year!
